Crochet Thread

I have a confession to make. I love crochet thread, and I have a lot of it. I have close to 100 spools! Most of it was given to me by people and a few I picked up at thrift stores, and even fewer I've actually bought new. There's something about all the bright colors, different shades of white, and just the way the thread looks itself all wound up on cardboard spools. It's so pretty. But, I also can't stand things not getting used. I went through my thread the other night and sorted it out by size to see just what I have so I can start using it up. My dream is to put every bit of this thread to some use. Crazy? Maybe. But I just get so thrilled when I finish off a spool of thread and see something pretty was made from it after it sat neglected for so many years and that the space the spool took up is now empty.

What would you make with 100 spools of crochet thread? I would like to try knitting a doily, because I've never tried that yet, but I'm also trying to think outside of the box of doilies and flowers and think of something fun and completely different to try.
Any ideas?

  1. Love your photos! Look at all the pretty colors.
Here are some projects using crochet thread.
    Love these potholders!
And these coasters are really pretty!
This sweater is so sweet and vintage.

Oh and I've been seeing crocheted peter pan collars lately that are so cute! Amy wants one so bad...like this one http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/georgette-collar or this one http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crochet-peter-pan-collar

Or you could be really crazy and knit or crochet all your own trim for your costumes or crochet a table cloth.... :)

    Love you!

    1. Oooh so many pretty ideas! I especially love those coasters! So pretty! I have thought of using some of it to make costume trim. :) Maybe I will be that crazy. ;)
