Hello 2015

Every year I get excited about having a fresh start and setting goals for the new year to make dreams come true. "New Year's Resolutions" some people call them...but now days it seems like so many people despise New Year's Resolutions I almost hate to talk about them. But I am a goal setter and a deadline maker year round. A scheduler, not so much. But that's another story. I get giddy inside when I think about setting goals and actually sticking to it and working so hard until it comes to that point where you cross the finish line.
This year I had many goals, one of them was to finish unfinished projects and I'm so excited that I was able to get my 18 knitting and crochet projects (yes 18!!) down to 4! I was hoping to finish them all by the end of the year but with the holidays and such it just didn't happen. Not to mention two of the projects left are afghans! You're killing me Smalls!

The projects I have left are:

Cable Throw - I started this for Britton before he and I got married! I am SO ready to see it finished! And I have really made a lot of progress on it lately which feels good! I ran out of yarn and they don't make those blues anymore so I am adding in black.

Sunburst Afghan - I started this last January to use up some scraps. I think it's half way! Unless I decide it needs a few more rows.

BFF Cowl - The bane of my existance! But I think I finally am starting to understand the pattern which is super confusing to me. So hopefully that will be finished soon!

Socks - These are super top secret so you can't see the right side yet! I'm designing my first sock pattern! And that green is normally not a color I would choose, but I bought it like 5 days after I had surgery so I blame the pain meds. But it is growing on me.

I do have two more projects that I started...one is a Christmas gift which is super late! And the other is my Once Upon a Time Mystery KAL that I couldn't not join in on. (One of my absolute favorite TV shows) So my goal is to finish these before I cast on anything new! With the exception of maybe treating myself to a new project for my birthday. Because I mean....BIRTHDAY. Birthdays win.

Once I finish those I am about to tackle my sewing projects! My original goal was to have all my projects (sewing and knitting) completed by March 1, but I don't feel like that it going to happen. I'm going to try to get as many finished by then as I can though and then I will reevaluate and set a new goal. The point is, no new projects until they are all finished. If that's not motivation I don't know what is!

I feel like the holidays went so fast this year! It almost felt like they weren't even here before they were over! But we did get some snow which was lovely. I love snow.
It's also been the winter of hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles. We had several Christmas movie nights with my niece and nephews. We watched The Santa Clause, Elf, and The Polar Express which I had never seen before! Watching Christmas movies with kiddos is way more magical. Especially when one of them plants himself right between you and your husband and holds your hands through most of the movie. ♥
I'm excited for this new year and I hope all of you are too. I hope to blog a little more because I have really been missing it lately.
How were your holidays? Do you like setting goals every year? If so, what are some of them?
♥Anna

  1. Oh, sometimes it's so hard to finish up old projects, but so worth it! I'm working on all the projects I already started/for which I have the stuff. We'll see how it goes! :)
